I am so privileged that Best of Best HK Open DanceSport Championships & Christmas Party has become a legend in DanceSport history . Unlike other competitions organized by myself, I do not have to worry about the entries of competitors and the selling of dinner tickets. For 17th Best of Best I invited 11 overseas adjudicators from Israel, Korea, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan ; 2 from China, and 22 from Hong Kong. 174 couples and 119 Solo competitors from Israel, Taiwan, Japan, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Korea, China & HK were registered with record selling of 44 dinner tables. Also beyond my expectation and actually a most encouraging factor for me – I did not have to bring back home any of the 700 copies of 17th Best of Best HIK Open DanceSport Championship programmes as they were all taken! My hours of hard work on designing, researching, writing and editing on the programmes were totally worthwhile !
Yang Hang Henry & Choy Yan Yan Yanise ; Vanderlely HinLon & Zhao ShanShan, successfully defended their titles in Open Amateur Latin and Open Professional Latin. The Open Professional Standard & Open Amateur Standard titles were taken by two rapidly rising couples around the World – Wu Hao & Ding Nam (China) ; Diego Arias & Ekaterina Ermolina (Russia).
As former Showdance and 10-Dance Champions, my wife & I had been trying to promote these two special categories in HK. Over the previous years, Showdance Latin, Showdance Standard, Open Amateur 10-Dance & Open Professional 10-Dance events had been incorporated at Best of Best’s. This year Open Amateur 10-Dance was added again but the entries was not very satisfactory, I might bring back Showdance Championships at 18th Best of Best!
