第十屆ISTD盃
Since 7th ISTD Cup, I had been organizing the ISTD Cup side by side with my Birthday Party. Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of ISTD Cup in Hong Kong on 7/4/13, I made an emotional decision - The 11th ISTD Cup next year on 13/4 will be held in the same venue not connected to my Birthday celebration ! Though two competitions in Hong Kong & one in Singapore (invited judge from Singapore could not come) clashed on the same day, the turnout of competitors and guests were almost the same as last year. One China adjudicator promised to come with his couples cancelled (his adjudication duty & couples'entries) 10 days prior to the 10th ISTD Cup. To maintain the integrity and fairness of this championships, I immediately found a replacement adjudicator from Russia, Inna Lesnikova. Although Inna was unable to find couples from overseas to join this championships at such short notice, she was able to share her views on some of the couples on the floor on the day with me. The local Solo dancers and couples that caught her eyes were : 蘇顯棋, 徐約螢, 馬雲龍/彭巧俐, George Mak & Viola Leung, 李益昌/譚芷妍, etc. Other than Inna, I was lucky to be able to invite adjudicators from Slovenia, Thailand, China and the very best from Hong Kong. The full house guests (23 tables) in the evening dinner party were happy with plenty time of general dancing & delicious cuisine at stake. Appetizer was my student Jennifer performing with her Indian Dance teacher. Thereafter came the Presentations of (i) ISTD Professional Certificates for candidates who took the examinations in December 12 ; (ii) HKBDI 2012 All Year Round Champions for 12 categories, actually 6 of them had been presented in Thailand on 3/2/13 & had the second time award receiving ceremony ; & (iii) Gathering of the new HKBDI Committee who managed to attend my last Birthday Party!
Main dish was the Open Professional Latin Final with four talented couples from Hong Kong to challenge the 2013 UK Professional Latin Rising Stars Runners Up, Manuel Favilla & Natalja Maidiuk. Manuel & Natalja easily took the title and presented two Honour Dances as their Birthday Gift to Lawrence! I put up an interview with Manuel & Natalja in the 10th ISTD Cup Programme Magazine to thank them in advance accepting my invitation to compete in my Birthday Party.
