When A Child Is Born !
Since my very first organization of Ballroom & Latin Dance Competition on 11/4/93, without noticing I had been involved with putting into order of 49 competitions over the past 20 years. Ironically, not until 1st Handover Cup DanceSport Championships on 14/10/12, the 50th competition that I had hosted, did I ever receive sponsorships from District Council on the first occasion! Also I had organized competitions in 13 different venues including twice in Thailand but 1st held in the Hong Kong Park Sports Centre. Terrific responses were received from the Hong Kong competitors & spectators with over 100 couples and nearly 40 Solo dancers entered. One setback would be the over-crowded venue did not allow the competitors to dance of their best, and of course at the same time, the audience was unable to watch under comfortable conditions. The Central & Western District Council appointed members at scene had been fully aware of the situations and promised to provide the best Main Hall for next year's Handover Cup！
Competitions commenced at 1100 hrs on the day until1830 hrs. At 1900 hrs, the Prize Presentations and Celebration Ceremony of the HKSAR's 15 years Anniversary were held. After all the formalities and speeches by different Inaugural Honourable Guests, it was my turn to deliver last speech to the audience. Thanked God I still managed to disclose the requests collated from my couples and fellow adjudicators in the presence of different District Council Members and Officials !
Thereafter, I was lucky enough to be able to allocate the four couples of Open Professional Standard Champions, 2nd Place & 3 rd Place and the Open Amateur Standard Champions to be the partners of four Men & Ladies' Inaugural Honourable Guests, to commensurate the Opening Dance of Waltz. Atmosphere became terrific. The Honour Dances then began with the order as follows :
Open Amateur Standard Champions Le Yuh & Lin Siu Sian from Taiwan ;
Open Professional Standard 2nd Place Mac Ko & Vesta Ko ;
Open Professional Latin Champions Jason Li & Judy Ip ; and
Open Professional Standard Champions Evgeny Bogdon & Wendy Huang from Australia.
Here came the conclusion of the whole ceremony with spirits of the audience pushed to another climax!
Will Handover Cup grow healthily to become my 5th child following my
other four- Come Dancing Cup, Best of Best, ISTD Cup and HKBDFI Cup ?
