The 20th Anniversary of Come Dancing Cup on 12th August 2012 saw unprecedent big clashes with two other Hong Kong Councils' competitions on the same day, not taking into account of the other one in Taiwan & two big Championships in China! Facing adverse situations & beyond my expectations, the 20th Come Dancing Cup, being 4th Ranking Event of "Hong Kong Ballroom Dancers International" in 2012, still managed to attract 120 couples and 36 Dinner Tables of guests, which were almost, if not the same as last year.
Thanks to my very good friend & elder sister Aleena from Singapore for her generosity of sponsoring the Entry Fees (to compete in 25th Singapore International on 28 /10/ 12) for the 1st & 2nd Place of Hong Kong Closed Professional (Standard & Latin) Events of 20th Come Dancing Cup! Eight couples took on the floor to fight for the in Hong Kong Professional Standard Champions' title, and six couples (two withdrew due to sickness) in Hong Kong Professional Latin field, must be the best turnout in the history of recent Hong Kong Professional Closed Events.
The best three Hong Kong Amateur Latin couples who achieved best results in 2012 Blackpool Festival all took up their number tags & eventually occupied the first three spots of the Open Amateur Latin Prize Presentation Podium, put aside the strong challenges from Thai & Taiwanese couples.
This year was my four consecutive years' performance with my student Jennifer. It was possibly our best Pro-Am Demonstrations ever. Praises were flooded in from overseas adjudicators who had witnessed our performances in previous years.
Open Professional Latin Final was held in the evening as the prime event. The triple Professional Latin Rising Star Champions from International, UK and Blackpool, Yegor & Yana from USA were easy winners of the night as the main challengers Joshua & Sara from Australia withdrew due to leg injury. Second place was Fabio & Tinna from Italy who had pulled out all their stops to challenge for the first spot. My youngest Professional couple, Ocean & Nancy who through my announcement, danced their debut Professional competition, took 3rd Place and managed to grap some 2nd Places from individual judges!
