17th Come Dancing Cup continued the new concept from last year by moving the Open :Professional Latin Final to the evening as the main feature. This year I was so pleased to have invited Emanuele Soldi & Elisa Nasato, the current British Professional Rising Star Latin Champions to come to Hong Kong from Italy to compete in this year's Super Professional Latin Final. In 10th Coming Dancing Cup 2002 was my last time to organize the Coming Dancing Cup performing guests teaching in Hong Kong. Being obsessed by the puzzle of Emanuele & Elisa's "Winning this year's Blackpool from Nowhere", I decided to re-input my duties from seven years ago to organize four days teaching for Emanuele & Elisa in Hong Kong. They arrived at HK in the morning of 5th August confronted with the attack of Typhoon "Parrot"! Luckily, the worries of Lawrence were evaporated eventually seeing the teaching plan of Emanuele & Elisa not affected.
The teaching, the performances in the competition & Honour Dances on 9/8/09 from Emanuele & Elisa all thrilled the pupil and the audience with class on their own. Having arranged everything for them, I was so happy to have been rewarded with all the praises and applauses. Regarding the puzzle ............!
The first highlight of the evening was the Tango performance of myself with my student Jennifer Lee. This number of International & Argentina Tango segue cost a lot to be choreographed and checked by seven Masters of Dance. I was so proud of Jennifer's performance. For myself..........., I would credit a Pass! Straight after our demonstration, we changed the mood into the Super Professional Latin Final. Six couples from six different countries pulled out all their stops to please the audience and the judges with the results as follows in country order – Italy, Macau (originated from Russia), Lithuania, Ukraine (lady from Thailand), China and Thailand.
Two person-in-charges of the venue of competition, the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), has both congratulated Lawrence on the day, encouraging Lawrence to organize the Come Dancing Cup again next year at HKCEC. I was moved!

第十七屆起舞盃延續去屆的新猷, 將公開職業拉丁舞決賽放在晚上作為重頭戲, 今年我特別邀請今屆黑池職業拉丁新星冠軍Emanuele Soldi & Elisa Nasato專程由意大利飛來香港, 參加今屆的起舞盃超級職業拉丁舞決賽。 自2003年第十一屆起舞盃開始, 我已沒有為起舞盃表演嘉賓安排在港授課, 但這次為要解開Emanuele & Elisa 在今年黑池一夜成名之謎, 我重作馮婦, 安排他們於5/8/09早上到達香港授課四天, 卻遇上颱風 『鸚鵡』襲港, 尚幸祇是虛驚一場, 並未影響他們的行程, 他們在港的教課、 9/8/09晚決賽的表現及冠軍榮譽表演都令人讚不絕口, 不枉我為他們作種種安排, 至於這個謎.............!
去到當晚高潮, 我與學生Jennifer Lee先打頭陣, 表演一隻經七位大師精心編排及修葺、花費不菲的Tango, 我對Jennifer 的表演引以為傲, 至於我自己.......及格吧! 我們表演後立即轉換口味, 進行公開職業拉丁舞決賽, 由六對不同國藉的職業拉丁高手出場, 成績順序為意大利、澳門 (原藉俄羅斯)、立陶宛、烏黑蘭 (女生為泰國人)、中國及泰國。
當天比賽場地 『灣仔會議展覽中心』有兩位負責人分別向我道賀及打氣, 希望明年能再次看到起舞盃在會展舉行, 令我感到安慰
