第十六屆起舞盃 10/8/2008在灣仔香港會議展覧中心舊翼舉行, 雖然下午比賽人
數眾多, 但時間掌握得很準確及暢順, 令晚上有充足時間給來賓起舞。 今屆起舞
盃打破十五年來多項的紀錄, 包括 :

  1. 公開職業拉丁舞組的獎金 ;
  2. 公開職業拉丁舞組的報名隊數 ;
  3. 公開職業標準舞組的報名隊數 ;
  4. 海外賽手與裁判的房間數目 ;
  5. 截止報名後拒絕報名的隊數 ;
  6. 参賽的人數。

晚上高潮為公開職業拉丁決賽, 結果是專程由美國請來的2008年黑池職業新星拉丁冠軍
Dmitry & Violetta Kurakin 輕易取勝, 他們感謝大會的邀請來港賣大包送上冠軍榮譽表演三隻舞!

 

16th Come Dancing Cup HK Open DanceSport Championship was concluded on
10/8/08 at the luxurious Convention Hall, Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition
Centre, Wanchai.  The organizers were relieved that the running of the whole
afternoon session competitions were smooth enough to provide plenty of time for the
guests & VIPs to enjoy their dinner dance party in the evening. There were many
records-breaking over the past 15 years as follows :

  1. prize money for Open Professional Latin ;
  2. number of entries for Open Professional Latin event ;
  3. number of entries for Open Professional Standard event ;
  4. overseas adjudicators and competitors' hotel accommodation ;
  5. turn down of entries after deadline was due ;    
  6. total number of competitors.
The highlight of the evening was the Open Professional Latin Final.  All the way from USA, 2008 British Open Rising Star Professional Latin Champions Dmitry & Violetta Kurakin won easily.  They appreciated so much the invitation from the organizers to compete in this glamorous event in Hong Kong, that they presented three honour dances to the audience!
