Report of 8th Handover Cup DanceSport Championships
HK Park Sports Centre 1/F Arena has been the venue solely for Handover Cup over the past 8 years. I was happy to see 8th Handover Cup on 30/6/19 recorded highest entries - Solo : 197 dancers (individual highest entries event was Under 12 C/J : 54, Under 10 CCC : 46, Under 10 Rumba 45). 91 Couples took on the floor. I have to apologize to competitors as other than the 15selected events had Prizes presented by honorable guests, all other Solo & Couple events had no prize presentations due to shortage of time. In consideration to the growing discontent & violence of Hong Kong Society, I brought up with a little theme, “Harmony & Happiness in Dancing Cha Cha Cha”. All competitors, helpers, audience, adjudicators are encouraged to dance a happy Cha Cha Cha (about 3min) with no costume & step restrictions, with a view to bringing Hong Kong back to Peace &Mutual Respect ! On the other hand, I felt uncomfortable as I could not go to 20th Singapore Grand Prix on 29/6/19, the competition my wife & I had been Supporting for the past 19 years.
